ONE YEAR.

The man child turned one.  one year old.  unbelievable.

Lots of crafting to be had.

The theme was circles.  And thankfully this product exists.  It was used.  Heavily.  For weeks and weeks leading up to the party.

Cupcakes, time capsule and circle banner.

Yes.  Even the food was circular.  I caught a lot of heat from family about how crazy I am.  And I am.

Monthly pictures.

BIRD IN THE HOUSE.

Okay.  Maybe not yet.  But hopefully soon.

Our mid-century bird house.  Isn’t she sweet. I love the off centered hole and raised roof.

Manual labor thanks to the guy.

PROGRESS.

This photo gallery wall has been is a work in progress.  I wish it were done.  But have embraced that it will forever be a work in progress.  With updates of:

- new pictures

- art work installations (by none other than man child himself)

- anything fun that comes our way

p.s. sorry for the dark picture - iPhone > big/real/nice camera when it comes to time.

EASTER BASKET
This is the man child’s Easter basket.  Personalized by Mommy.  I used a tag that was part of a wrapper for a super cute hooded towel we got as a shower gift.  I seam ripped off the tag with writing on it, turned it over, hand stitched his name, then machine stitched around with a contrasting color to finish it off.  A little grosgrain ribbon laced through and ta-da, an Easter basket to last the ages for less than ten buck-a-roos!
NOTE: Not to worry – any chocolate that is put in said Easter basket will be removed consumed by Mommy, not man child.  Hey, in the long run he’ll get some, in a roundabout way!
Oh, and I scored the super cute Haba (love this toy company) Big Voyage in the right foreground at a consignment shop this week for more than 70% off.  Whoot-whoot!

MORE BEDROOM PROJECT
I did the same to some bedside lights I got at IKEA.  I know, all matchy, matchy, but pretty cool, none the less.  I just cut and hot glued the same rice paper around these lights for a wicked finished product.  And yes, that’s a Krispy Kreme mug with the remotes in it (used to be dedicated to a much more important purpose, but has now been repurposed), and the necessary water bottle for late night parchedness, and the amazing white noise machine for the man child sleep situation.

BEDROOM PROJECT
Well, in a way we’ve already debuted our ‘real’ bedroom project (i.e. man child).  Ha, ha.  Ewwwww.  But really, we’re working on slowy updating the master (bedroom that is).  I got a clever idea to cover a lampshade to make a, how you say, contemporary drum light fixture.  I used a lamp shade I scored for $3 at a yard sale, extra fabric from the bottom of a curtain that I hemmed, rice paper like stuff from IKEA (which I somehow found for $1 in the ‘As-Is’ section and we are going to incorporate into the headboard we a make), the light fixture we had there previously and a glue gun.  Whipped it up… all for less than five dollahs.  That’s right.  Five dollahs.  Not too bad, if I do say so myself!

ON GOING PROJECT (TO BE) = FAMILY PICTURE WALL
A huge number of family photos and mementos all in matching white frames will someday replace this lonesome picture on the wall outside of our bedrooms.  I envision a great amount of white spray paint and wood filler (for all the random holes made in the wall from hanging) in my future.  The guy is not too impressed with the prospect of this many holes in the FAB paneling.
Stay tuned.
